It was not Ilse's original ambition to specialize in designing shoes. At university, she studied political science and national economy and after that, she opened her own restaurant. The change began when Ilse took over an agency for shoes from a friend who had lost interest. She decided to open her own shoe shop in Hornbæk and created her first shoe collection counting only ten styles. After many years of success designing and selling shoes, Ilse decided to form her own women’s line. Today Ilse Jacobsen • Hornbæk presents, not only two annual shoe collections, but also two annual clothes collections, which are supplemented with some beautiful accessories and basic all year round items.

The Head Office is beautifully located north of Copenhagen along one of Denmark’s most breathtaking white beaches and its rural surroundings are reflected in the brand. ILSE JACOBSEN • Hornbæk has a preference for natural beauty and natural materials, focusing on creativity, innovation, and quality always with an eye for the current trends and development within fashion.

Since the establishment, the brand has experienced successful growth. The company continues to increase in popularity, growing from a company that began 17 years ago with five employees to a staff of nearly 60. Today, the brand has opened 16 concept stores as well as several hundred selling doors around the globe with sales in 19 countries as far apart as Canada and Australia. The continuous growth is a firm indication of the brand's strength in a demanding market.
